Responsibilities:

• Oversee the maintenance and care of the castle’s gardens and grounds, including lawns, flowerbeds, trees, and shrubs.
• Manage a team of groundskeepers and gardeners, delegating tasks and ensuring that work is completed to a high standard.
• Plan and implement landscaping projects, including the installation of new features fit for a castle, such as topiary, fountains or pathways.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive plant inventory and implement appropriate maintenance and pest control measures.
• Ensure that all equipment and machinery are well-maintained and in good working order and stored in an organized and non-visible manner.
• Develop and implement a waste management plan for the castle grounds.
• Maintain the castle’s topiary, hedges and borders, ensuring that they are trimmed and shaped regularly.
• Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the castle’s water features, such as fountains, ponds, and streams.
• Manage and coordinate with external contractors as needed, such as arborists or pest control specialists.
• Ensure that the castle’s grounds are safe for visitors, identifying and mitigating any potential hazards. 

To be considered, the following criteria need to be met:

• At least five years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of successfully managing large gardens or estates.

• Strong horticultural knowledge and skills, with a good understanding of plant identification, growth, and maintenance.

• Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

• Good knowledge of health and safety regulations related to garden and grounds maintenance.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with other departments and external contractors.
